JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner, William Yates, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the family of the following individual.
Robert Wesley Hodge, 48, of Birmingham, died on August 18, 2022, at 5:12 p.m. The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) responded to the 8400 block of 5th Avenue South in the Eastlake Community on reports of an abandoned vehicle. Upon arriving, police discovered Hodge unresponsive, sitting in the front passenger seat of his black 2011 Nissan Altima.
Coroners say his cause of death has not been determined, but there is no evidence of foul play or trauma. Hodge is believed to have originally lived in Oneonta, Alabama, but was currently living in the 8300 block of Vassar Avenue in Birmingham, which is near the location where he was found. The Hodge’s mother, Doris Matson, lived in Oneonta, Alabama, but all attempts to locate her have failed.
