BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man was arrested for the murder of a 34-year-old man that occurred on Monday, July 25, 2022.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), 25-year-old Demarcus Antwaun Buffer was arrested for the murder of Frederick Hooks III while in the 1600 Block of 35th Street North.

The BPD reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Hook. On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Capital Murder.
Buffer was taken into custody at a residence in Birmingham. He is currently in the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.
