LEEDS — Leeds Main Street, a newly Designated program, will host the Main Street Alabama Resource Team, on Sept. 20-22, in Leeds. The Resource Team will provide recommendations that will guide Leeds Main Street with implementable tasks based on the Main Street Four-Point Approach™ for the next five years.
The objective is to recommend a course of action with specific economic development strategies in the areas of Design, Promotion, Organization, and Economic Vitality. Recommendations will be based on information gathered through a review of written materials, interviews and meetings, and a facilitated community visioning session.

“It’s important for the Main Street Alabama team to know what our community wants in their downtown so recommendations and goals for Leeds Main Street can be positioned around community input,” said Amber Vines, Leeds Main Street Executive Director. “We encourage full community participation to share their vision of how they want our downtown district to materialize.”
The community input session will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at the Leeds Middle School Lunchroom, 1771 Whitmire St.
The feedback from the public input session, along with meetings with stakeholders, public surveys, tours, existing city plans, and studies, will be utilized by the team, and initial findings will be presented to the public at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at Leeds Arts Council, 8140 Parkway Drive. Those findings and recommendations will then be available in a final report and will serve as Leeds Main Street Strategic Guide.
Leeds Main Street is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization. Downtown Leeds has welcomed two new businesses, and 982 volunteer hours have been reported since June 1, 2022. If you would like to become involved, reach out to Amber Vines at leedsmainstreet@gmail.com.
