LEEDS — The City of Leeds announced the opening of a Leeds Fitness Court on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., with a ribbon cutting.
Mayor David Miller and the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon on behalf of the City of Leeds in celebration of this project’s completion and the fitness court’s grand opening.
“This is our brand new outdoor exercise facility; we’ve been waiting on this stuff to get here for a long time, and finally, it’s arrived,” Miller said. “Everything you see will be available for anybody who wants to come and use it. This is going to be a great thing for everybody in the City of Leeds, so come on down and give it a try.”
According to the City of Leeds Facebook page, Leeds fitness court is open to ages 14 and up. This project was made possible in part by a Blue Cross Blue Shield grant, and the fitness court is located at Leeds Memorial Park near the pavilion at 1159 Montevallo Road.
Plans are to expand the existing children’s playground area. In addition, new children’s playground equipment has been purchased and will be installed between now and spring.
