JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 56-year-old man died after a fall from a tree in McCalla on Saturday, Sept. 17, just before 1 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Lou George Loop in McCalla to investigate the report of a person who had fallen from a tree.
Lieutenant Joni Money stated that witnesses at the scene said that the 56-year-old male had climbed into a tree using a ladder in an attempt to cut some limbs. One of the limbs reportedly struck the ladder on which the victim was standing.
The victim fell to the ground, suffering life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.
