LEEDS — Two Moody residents were arrested by the Leeds Police Department (LPD) for drug distribution and child endangerment on Friday, Sept. 16, at 1:10 p.m.
According to the LPD, officers had obtained arrest warrants and a search warrant after an investigation of the distribution of narcotics in Leeds and Moody.
The LPD Operation Support Unit served the warrants to the Super 8, located in the 2400 Block of Moody Parkway, and the Moody Police Department assisted with service.
Once inside the hotel room, officers took Dillion Paul Lands, 29, of Moody, in custody for the arrest warrants, and Savannah Shae Kirby, 23, of Moody, was arrested after the search.
“Investigators searched the hotel room and recovered methamphetamines, fentanyl, marijuana, Suboxone, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia,” Chief Paul Irwin stated in a press release. “The defendants were charged with chemical endangerment of a child because there was an infant inside the hotel which was taken into protective custody.”
Lands was charged with three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, drug trafficking, chemical endangerment, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held with no bond.
Kirby was charged with drug trafficking, chemical endangerment, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“I am very proud of the hard work of our Operation Support Investigators and their ability to get individuals selling narcotics and in this case, exposing a child to them,” Irwin stated. “Now, this child is in a safe home, and two individuals who are using narcotics and pose a danger to the community are removed from the streets of the City of Leeds and Moody. I appreciate all our officers who responded to the scene and assisted us. We have great relationships with many law enforcement agencies, and the Moody Police Department is always there to assist us.”
