BIRMINGHAM — According to the Birmingham Police Department, a homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed following an argument.
Police said the victim has been identified as Kenneth Dewayne Maddox Jr., 35, of Birmingham.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, West Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 1900 Block of 28th Street Ensley on report of a person shot.
Officers arrived on the scene where they found the victim lying unresponsive inside of a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Princeton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal argument with another person inside of the residence. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim then fled on foot.
Currently, there is no one in custody.
