BIRMINGHAM — An Interstate 20/59 North at Exit 120 (Five Points West Ave) crash claimed the life of a Center Point man on Sunday, Oct. 16, at approximately 12:59 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Douglas Edward Washington, 55, of Center Point, was the driver and lone occupant of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was stopped in one of the northbound travel lanes due to mechanical failure and was subsequently struck in the rear by a Ford Fusion sedan.
Washington was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck.
