MIDFIELD — An unidentified man was found dead after a residence fire in Midfield on Thursday, October 13, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the Midfield Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a two-story private residence. Upon arriving, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“During the initial investigative phase, investigators located the decedent’s remains within the fire debris,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated.
The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Midfield Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
