IRONDALE — The Irondale Police Department (IPD) is continuing to search for a violent suspect that was last seen on Grants Mill Road at I-20 on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at approximately 11:30 a.m.
According to the IPD, officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Crestwood Boulevard to investigate a felony assault.
“The victim was still on the scene and was able to give a description of the suspect and what vehicle he was driving,” Lieutenant Mark Meadows stated. “She described the suspect as a black male, early 20s in age, 5 foot 10 inches tall, and 170 lbs.”
A short time later, the suspect and his vehicle were located.
“Irondale Police Officers initiated a traffic stop on Grants Mill Road at Interstate 20,” Meadows stated. “At this time, the suspect fled on foot. A search was conducted, and the suspect was not located.”
Birmingham Police Department and a tracking dog from the Trussville Police Department assisted in the search. The suspect is still at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous.
This is an ongoing investigation.
