TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville Lady Huskies Basketball team opened the 2022 season with a decisive 59-38 win over Gadsden City, Thursday night.
The Lady Huskies jumped out to a big lead early, 19-7, over the Lady Titans in the first quarter, and extended their advantage to 19 points, 37-18, at the half
Three Lady Huskies scored in the double digits on the night. Freshman point guard Jordan Hunter, daughter of head coach Tonya Hunter, had 15 points as well as three steals and three assists. Sophomore April Hooks finished with 12 points, four assists, and three steals, and Ashlyn Howard contributed ten points and dominated the boards with seven rebounds.
The Lady Huskies were a healthy 41 percent shooting, 30 percent from three-point range.
Now 1-0 on the young season, the Lady Huskies will travel to Montgomery to take on the Park Crossing Lady Thunderbirds on Tuesday, November 8.
