ARGO — Mayor Betty Bradley and Argo City Council are pleased to announce that the City of Argo is nearing completion of the 2022 Comprehensive Plan, “Argo ALIVE.” The city is hosting an open house event at city hall today, Nov. 10, from 3-6 p.m., for the community to get a look at the plan.
The Comprehensive Plan is an action-oriented city-wide planning process to make Argo, Alabama, a better place to live, work and play. It is a plan developed by and for the citizens of Argo and addresses a wide variety of issues including land use, transportation, housing, recreation and economic development. Upon its completion, this process will be supplemented by a citywide zoning code.
The community open house event will be open to the general public from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Argo City Hall, located at 100 Blackjack Road, Trussville, AL 35173. At the open house, members of the planning consultancy team at Goodwyn Mills Cawood will be presenting a draft version of the plan, including topics such as a potential town center, future land use, and road connectivity/improvements. The public may arrive at any time between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to view and discuss the various plan elements.
The Argo ALIVE planning process has provided the community with multiple opportunities to guide future land use and development goals in order to meet the needs and seize the opportunities of the quickly growing city of Argo. Over 400 citizens have contributed to this process through in-person meetings and online engagement. Although the plan is nearing completion, this event is an important opportunity for citizens to have their voices heard.
This is a public process, and the city wants to involve as many citizens as possible. For those who have not yet been involved in the process, this open house event is an opportunity to contribute your opinions before the plan is finalized. The long-term success of the Comprehensive Plan and the city itself depends on an actively engaged citizenry. The mayor and council invites all Argo residents to see the visionary work done so far in planning a more prosperous and vibrant future for the city.
“We are looking forward to presenting the draft plan to the public as this important process nears completion,” Mayor Bradley said. “Community input drives the overall development of the comprehensive plan and is vital to the success of the plan. This is a great chance for the community to share their values, vision, and hopes for the future of Argo. We are excited to hear from you, the citizens, so that we can work together as a team to secure a brighter future for Argo.”
