With His tender mercy, the Lord ushered Bunnie to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
Bunnie was preceded in death by her parents, Bunnie and Louella Jane Curlette, and her husband of almost 70 years, Fred Schmitt. She is survived by her children: Steve (Kathi); John (Renee); Shari (Van); Joe (Betsy); and Jane. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Glenn Curlette; Guy Curlette (Maryjo); as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Bunnie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished each family relationship. Her life was her family, and she prayed every night for each member.
She was an artist and an athlete and sang in the church choir. She played softball until she was almost 60 years old (far surpassing any other member of her family) and bowled into her early 80s. She was a Master Teacher of ceramics and taught many others the love of the craft. She was a member of First Baptist Church Roebuck Plaza and served the Lord in a number of capacities: she taught Sunday School for decades and loved every opportunity she had to share Jesus with people. She was strong in spirit and body, and her presence will forever be missed in the lives of those who knew her.
The funeral will be directed by Jefferson Memorial East on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., following visitation at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Roebuck Plaza, Affinity Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
