Special thanks to Cindy, Griffin, Larry, and Libby’s assistant, for 12 years of loving care.
He was born in Stockton, California, on July 9, 1955, and grew up in Durant, Oklahoma. Larry served in the Navy from ’72 to ’75 on the USS Seawolf Submarine; you can read about the submarine in the book Blind Man’s Bluff. Libby and Larry started a trucking company together called Shackelford Inc logging over 1 million miles. They later left the trucking industry and started LES Best LLC’s electrical contracting business, where he retired in August of 2021. Larry loved the farm he built with Libby named Carousel “O” Breeds, where they shared many memories teaching kids and adults the love of horses. He enjoyed riding his Harley and rode it all the way to California on two trips by himself to visit family and friends. He loved anyone he met, like family, especially his employees. Larry’s hobbies included cooking for friends and family, going boating on Lay Lake, teaching kids gun safety and shooting, and rodeo queen interview coach. Larry never met a challenge. He had an eye for perfection. Mr. Larry made an impact on many lives and will truly be missed.
