JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two crashes over the weekend in Jefferson County have claimed two individuals’ lives.
Vargas was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hoover Police Department is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck.
Procha Patrice Williams, 34, of Birmingham, was the driver of a motor vehicle that became disabled in one of the travel lanes on Elton B. Stephens Expressway North at U.S. Highway 31 exit ramp in Birmingham on Sunday, Jan. 8, at approximately 2:28 a.m.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office stated that Williams exited her vehicle and was struck by another motor vehicle on U.S. Highway 31 North at Carraway Blvd exit ramp in Birmingham on Sunday, Jan. 8, and was pronounced dead at approximately 3:02 a.m.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the wreck.
