BESSEMER — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the human remains found in a wrecked vehicle on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at approximately 1:00 p.m.

“The vehicle was found to be related to a missing person case filed with the Bessemer Police Department in September 2022,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated. “It is believed the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle wreck, where the vehicle, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and struck a tree at the bottom of the ravine.”
Yates stated that the cause of death was pending further analysis.
The Bessemer Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the missing person case and the wreck.
