MOODY – The Moody boy’s basketball team welcomed the Oneonta Redskins on Tuesday night and sent them back to Blount County with a 10-point loss on a night that saw Davion Dozier have a monster night.
Dozier wasted no time getting started as he scored 11 of Moody’s 17 points in the first quarter. Oneonta would manage to outscore the Blue Devils by one point, putting up 18 on the home team in the period.
In the second, Moody would step up on the defensive side of the ball and hold Oneonta to 11 points. On the offensive side of the ball, the Devils would score 15 of their own, to put them up by a score of 32-29. Kolby Seymour would lead Moody in the quarter with 7 points to help get his team to the 3-point lead heading into the half.
The third quarter would be more of Moody putting up big numbers as they scored 20 points while holding Oneonta to 16. Dozier would have another solid quarter, putting up 6 points along with 6 from Caden Helms and 5 from Seymour. The Blue Devils would take a 52-45 lead into the final frame of the game.
Moody would tighten up again on the defensive side of the ball, allowing Oneonta to score just 11 points. The offense would 14 to outscore the visitors and seal the victory for Moody. Dozier would hit 6 free throws to lead his team along with 6 points from teammate Chase Jackson.
Davion Dozier would finish the night with 29 of Moody’s 66 points. Kolby Seymour would add another 13 to go with Chase Jackson’s 12 for the Blue Devils in the 10-point win.
Coach Chad Bates said, “We played a well-coached Oneonta team that shot the ball really well. They played us zone and we did a good job of getting the ball inside and taking good shots.”
Coach Bates added, “Davion (Dozier) played extremely efficient on offense and Chase Jackson had his best game of the year with 12 points and 9 rebounds.”
Moody travels to Leeds on Friday night in an area rivalry matchup with the Green Wave before the county tournament begins on Monday.
