HUEYTOWN – The Hueytown Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire at the 1800 block of Edgehill Drive, Hueytown, on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6:52 p.m.

According to Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, first responders were able to rescue two adults from within the house and found out that a third adult had been able to escape prior to their arrival.
After being transported to UAB Hospital, however, 86-year-old Tommy Tucker, of Hueytown, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:02 p.m.
The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Hueytown Fire Department and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Hueytown Police Department.
