HUEYTOWN – A second person has died after a house in Hueytown caught fire on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023.
Wanda Thompson Tucker, 84, succumbed to her injuries and died at UAB Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 6:45 p.m.
According to Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, the Hueytown Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire at the 1800 block of Edgehill Drive, Hueytown, at 6:52 p.m., Saturday.
“First responders rescued two adults from within the house and found a third adult had been able to escape prior to their arrival,” Yates said.

Tommy Tucker, 86, was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital that night at 8:02 p.m.
The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Hueytown Fire Department and the circumstances surrounding the deaths are being investigated by the Hueytown Police Department.
