BIRMINGHAM – The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office released the identification today of decomposing skeletal remains that were discovered at the 8400 block of 7th Avenue South in Birmingham on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates identified the decedent as 38-year-old Jeramy Dean Hallmon, who resided in the neighborhood where his remains were found amongst a large pile of household rubbish.

“A citizen notified police of finding decomposing/skeletonized remains in a drainage ditch on the shoulder of a residential roadway,” Yates said.
Yates said that the cause of death is pending additional analysis.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
