BIRMINGHAM – A pedestrian and a driver both lost their lives early this morning, Feb. 8, 2023, when a Chrysler 300 sedan struck a utility pole and a pedestrian at the intersection of 19th Street and Avenue I in Ensley. The incident occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m.

The driver of the sedan has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as 25-year-old Lamarcus Mahdee Stanley, of Fairfield. The pedestrian remains unidentified, but is reported to be an adult black female.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:35 a.m. Stanley was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:25 a.m.
“(Stanley) was the driver and lone occupant a Chrysler 300 sedan that struck a utility pole and a pedestrian,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said. “The circumstances surrounding the wreck are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.”
