JEFFERSON COUNTY – Jefferson County is under an Enhanced Risk (level 3/5) for severe weather tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 16, Jefferson County EMA announced today. A storm system will be moving through creating multiple rounds of storms through the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. The National Weather Service has indicated that confidence of severe storm development through Thursday night has increased over the western half of Central Alabama.

When:
Currently, impacts can be expected in Jefferson County from 4 PM to 8 PM, with storms developing along the state line as early as noon. There is potential that timing could be adjusted slightly between now and tomorrow morning.

Tornadoes
Damaging winds up to 70 MPH
Large Hail
Currently, a Tornado watch is expected with this system tomorrow. If/when Jefferson County goes under a Tornado Watch, the EOC Activation Zoom call will be opened and the information will be sent out after the issuance of a watch.
