BRIGHTON – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that, at approximately 3:20 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 28, officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Main Street in Brighton to assist with a single vehicle motorcycle accident.
“According to reports from witnesses, a female and her child were crossing the street after the child was dropped off by his bus,” Sgt. Joni Money said. “A motorcycle traveling on Main Street struck the female. The male driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The female sustained critical injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital, while her child was not injured.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to conduct the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
