JEFFERSON COUNTY – An inmate of Jefferson County Jail died at UAB Hospital yesterday after being transported there due to apparent medical complications.
According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Isaiah Rashad Lowe, 20, of Hoover, had been an inmate at the Jefferson County Jail since Dec. 5, 2022, when booked into jail for Assault 2nd degree, Assault with bodily fluids, and Criminal Trespass 3rd degree.
“On 3/6/2023, the decedent was observed by correctional staff inside his private cell exhibiting symptoms of apparent medical complications,” Yates said. “The decedent was evaluated by the jail medical staff and immediately transported to UAB Hospital, where he later died the following day.”
An examination was scheduled to be performed on March 8, 2023, to assist with determining the cause and manner of death.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
