JEFFERSON COUNTY — An investigation is underway after deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office found a 15-year-old shot to death in a park on Monday evening.
“On Monday April 3, 2023, at 6:40 p.m., Jefferson County Deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a person down in the park at 100 Bayview Drive Mulga, Alabama,” according to a statement from JCSO,. “Deputies arrived and found a 15-year-old male deceased on the scene as a result of a gunshot.”
Tuesday morning, Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates identified the teen as William Mullins, IV of Mulga. Yates said Mullins “sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault.”
Sheriff’s investigators said they have several juveniles detained for questioning.
The body was be transported to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office for examination following the investigation at the park.
