BIRMINGHAM – A 22 year old Birmingham man was shot and killed in the early hours of Monday morning, April 17, 2023.
At around 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched and located the victim, identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Brandon Uqrhart, in an apartment having suffered gunshot wounds during the reported assault on the 600 block of Earline Circle.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported him to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:53 a.m.
“The decedent sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said. “The death is being investigated as a homicide.”
Investigators determined during a preliminary investigation that Uqrhart was shot outside of the apartment building by an unknown assailant. The suspect then fled on foot.
At the time, no one is in custody.
