BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Airport Authority hosted an event to welcome the first-ever nonstop flight from BHM to LGA on American Airlines on Sunday, May 7.
“We are excited that American is showing such confidence in this market,” said Darlene Wilson, Board Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority. “We know customers want more choice when they fly and we continue to work on giving them that,” said Wilson.
The first American flight from BHM to LGA departed today at 6:04 a.m. The return out of LGA departed at 7:29 p.m. and arrive in Birmingham at 9:14 p.m. This schedule had business travelers and anyone who wants to travel to New York by day and still get home that evening in mind.
“American is pleased to offer new service between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and LaGuardia Airport,” said Philippe Puech, American Airlines Director of Short-Haul Network Planning. “With seven nonstop destinations from BHM this summer, American is delighted to offer local residents expanded access to our global network.”
This summer, American Airlines will offer up to nineteen departures per day from BHM. LGA expands on existing service from American to Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.
