BIRMINGHAM – A 72-year old inmate serving a life sentence died at William Donaldson Correctional Facility
He was found by medical staff unresponsive in the prison infirmary at 4:48 a.m. where he was being treated for several health issues. He was pronounced dead at 5:06 a.m.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the cause of death has not yet been determined, but a postmortem examination found no evidence of trauma or foul play associated with death.
The Alabama Department of Correction is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
