JEFFERSON COUNTY — A fiery single-vehicle crash in Jefferson County on Saturday left one person dead, according to Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office.
“An SUV had apparently struck the side of the bridge and left the roadway,” Money said. “The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Shady Grove Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Deputies were unable to make an identification of the deceased driver.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy in an attempt to make a positive identification of the victim,” Money said.
