JEFFERSON COUNTY — One woman was injured, another had died after a crash near McCalla in the early morning hours of Friday, July 18.
At around 2:48 a.m. this morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to Old Tuscaloosa Highway at Woodview Lane in unincorporated Western Jefferson County to investigate a single vehicle traffic accident.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a vehicle occupied by two females had left the roadway and crashed into a tree. The 48-year-old female driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. A 56-year-old female passenger was transported to UAB Hospital with critical injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team.
