BIRMINGHAM – Sozo Children, a Birmingham-based Christian ministry serving at risk children in Uganda, Africa, has announced the hiring of Miguel Zayas as Ministry Outreach Leader. Zayas joined the ministry in July and will be the point of contact for ministry partners and lead the upcoming Sozo Children’s Choir 2024 Revolution Tour, performing in churches, schools and community events around the region.
A New York native, Zayas previously served as Senior Pastor for Inverness Vineyard Church and served 18 years in Estonia as a Senior Pastor and missionary. He was educated at Rhema Bible Training College.
Sozo Trading Co., an outreach ministry of Sozo Children, recently named Mark Janus as store manager. Janus brings years of retail leadership experience to Sozo Trading Co., an upscale thrift store in the Avondale community.
Janus is a native of Rochester, NY, and was educated at St. John Fisher University. He has lived in Birmingham for 22 years.
Additionally, Sozo Children has promoted Terry Schrimscher to Public Relations and Communication Specialist. In this role, he will manage all media relations, media buying, grant writing and communication strategy. He joined Sozo in 2019 and previously served as Global Engagement Coordinator.
Prior to joining Sozo Children, Schrimscher served as VP of an ad agency, Public Relations Director for an international nonprofit and worked as an editor in local news media. He has a degree from The University of Alabama.
Sozo Children International, a Birmingham-based ministry, conducts outreach into the local community and operates children’s homes in Uganda, Africa providing safe housing, healthcare and quality education to children rescued from abandonment, abuse and trafficking.
