TRUSSVILLE – Trussville Police are currently on the scene of a reported vehicle shooting that occurred tonight on I-59 Northbound. The Trussville Police Department received a call reporting the shooting at approximately 8:45 p.m.
“The victim had pulled into the Shell station at 1120 N. Chalkville Road,” Trussville Police Lt. Clint Riner said. “We arrived on scene and we discovered two people had been struck by bullets. One occupant had a gunshot wound to his lower leg; another occupant was struck in the upper half of his body — what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.”
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A third occupant in the vehicle was uninjured.
“During the course of the investigation, we determined that the shooting actually occurred outside the city limits of Trussville,” Riner said. “We’re still on scene here waiting to discuss the rest of the case with Birmingham (Police Department).”
