Matthew James Chamness, age 20 of Trussville, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Matthew James Chamness (April 6, 2003 – October 21, 2023)
Matt’s life was all about his love of baseball, his family and his friends. He loved pitching, his coaches, and his teammates. He was very competitive. He played for several schools over the years (Sumiton Christian, Hueytown and Mortimer Jordan).
He graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School in 2021 where he spent his senior year homebound. His school nurse, Dana DePew, saved his life multiple times during the beginning of his diabetes diagnosis. Matt did not let his diabetes stop him from having fun.
Matt enjoyed playing his guitar, hanging out with friends, playing Xbox and making his own music. He took pride in the friendships he had.
He was the greatest big brother to his 4 younger sisters. Matt was silly and loved to have fun. He was always clowning around and making others laugh. His love of life, people and baseball will forever be his legacy.
Visitation for family will be at 4:00 p.m., friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Boldo First Baptist Church. Jeremy Auvil will officiate.
