BIRMINGHAM — One man is dead and a woman has been transported to the hospital following a shooting at 4567 Pinson Valley Parkway early Thursday morning, according to Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation indicates the victims were in a vehicle at the Marathon gas station at the intersection of Pinson Valley Parkway and Carson Road when the shooting occurred. BPD received the call at approximately 2:48 a.m.
“We believe an unknown shooter fired into the vehicle,” Fitzgerald said.
The victims left the gas station and traveled southbound on Pinson Valley Parkway before crashing not far from the location of the shooting, according to Fitzgerald. Responding officers found the male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The female was not believed to have been shot but may have been injured in the crash. She was transported to an area hospital.
Center Point Fire and Rescue pronounced the male dead at the scene at 3:23 a.m. and transported the woman to the hospital.
Fitzgerald said there was no one in custody at this time as police continue their investigation and search for the shooter.
