ONEONTA — According to Carol Robinson, a Oneonta Police Department officer was injured and the suspect killed after a standoff in an Oneonta neighborhood on Monday morning, Nov. 20.
When police arrived, the suspect ran into the woods. A brief standoof enused. The suspect pulled a gun and shots were exchanged. The injured officer was hit in the leg. He was airifted to UAB hospital and is in stable condition.
The suspect did not survive the exchange and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation is on the scene and will lead the investigation.
