FORESTDALE — Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said one teenager is dead and another teenager is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with his murder.
Upon arrival deputies located a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Money. Medical personnel arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful.
Jefferson County Chief Coroner Bill Yates identified the slain teen as Jaden Alexander Lowe, 17, of Forestdale.
“Detectives investigating the case were able to develop a suspect in the shooting and subsequently placed 18-year-old Jaymon Battle under arrest,” Money said. “Battle is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on the charge of murder.”
In accordance with Aniah’s Law, Money said, the charge currently has no bond. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
