SPRINGVILLE — A call from an outside agency to Springville police triggered a chase, rolling negotiation and apprehension of out-of-state armed felons on Thursday.
Police said they received the call at about 9:30 a.m. alerting them that a vehicle involved in a string or robberies and burglaries was currently in the Walmart parking lot. Officers were dispatched to the shopping center and saturated the area where they located the suspect vehicle, a black Denali with Mississippi tag number 707R8, driving around the parking lot.
When officers approached the suspect vehicle they were led on a chase through the parking lot before turning on the Alabama Highway 23 toward Ashville.
Police determined that the suspects had out-of-state warrants. Additionally, they were driving a stolen vehicle and carrying a large amount of cash and stolen goods. Officers were also made aware that the suspects were armed and intended to shoot the police.
While the chase was ongoing, the suspects called St. Clair County Central Dispatch to negotiate their surrender. A short time later they surrendered to officers and were taken into custody without incident.
Springville police thanked the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and ALEA for assistance with the pursuit and apprehension of the suspects.
The suspects were not identified and their out-of-state charges were not released.
