TRUSSVILLE — A Birmingham man has been arrested and charge with multiple vehicle break-ins in the Longmeadow neighborhood in Trussville, according to TPD Lt. Clint Riner.
“On February 6,2024 at approximately 4:45 a.m., Trussville police were dispatched to the Longmeadow Subdivision on an unlawful breaking and entering of vehicle in progress,” Riner said. “Officers arrived on scene and were able to locate a white male walking in the area of the call for service. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect who then tried to flee on foot.”
Riner said the officers gave chase and pursued the suspect on foot and were able to detain and identify him. The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Gregory Alan Trott of Birmingham.
Trott was taken into custody and transported to the Trussville City Jail. During the investigation evidence was recovered that showed Trott entered multiple unlocked vehicles in the subdivision.
Detectives presented the evidence to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and warrants were issued for five counts of unlawful breaking and entering of vehicle, three counts of third degree theft of property, one count of fourth degree theft of property, one count of attempting to elude a police officer, one count of failure to obey a police officer.
Trott was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held on bonds totaling $108,000.
