ST. CLAIR COUNTY — At approximately 3:11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was notified of a train derailment, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
“Alabama 144 near Industrial Drive, in St. Clair County are currently closed and will be for an undetermined amount of time,” Bailey said
According to the St. Clair County EMA, the rain derailment is in Ragland. No hazardous materials and no injuries reported.
The intersection of Church Street and Hwy 144 is closed to all traffic.
Suggested alternate routes are:
From Ragland to Hwy 231: Take County Road 26 to Pope’s Chapel Road, to Hwy 231
From Hwy 231 to Ragland: Take a Right on Woods Bend Road, Left on Valley Road, and Left or Right onto Valley Drive to Hwy 411
Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.
