Houston – The Birmingham Stallions scored four touchdowns, kicked two field goals, missed a field goal, and punted only once during their first eight possessions en route to a 32-9 win over the Houston Roughnecks Saturday night.
The 5-0 Stallions, the only undefeated team in the United Football League, rolled up 358 yards of offense and held Houston to 271 yards.
Adrian Martinez started at quarterback and made the Roughnecks pay with 293 total yards.
Martinez completed 11 of 20 passes for 155 yards and one touchdown. He rushes for 138 yards on nine carries.
With the win, the Stallions extended their winning streak to 12 games.
Ricky Person, Jr. scored twice on the ground, Larry Roundtree, III, and Jay Sternberger had scores on the night.
Ramiz Ahmed was two of three kicking with a long of 37 yards.
Mark Gilbert led the Stallions’ defense with 11 total tackles.
Nevelle Clarke and JoJo Tillery came up with interceptions for the Stallions.
Adrian Martinez leads the UFL in rushing with 302 yards. Person, Jr., and CJ Marable rank fifth and sixth. Person, Jr. leads the league in rushing touchdowns.
Deone Cain is fourth in the league in receiving yards.
Amari Rodgers leads the league in receiving yards.
Carlos Davis leads the UFL in sacks.
Offensively, the Stallions lead the UFL in total offense, rushing offense, first downs, third and fourth down conversions, and are second in scoring.
Defensively, Birmingham leads the league in rushing defense, first downs against, scoring, and PATs. The Stallions are second in total defense.
The Stallions travel to Memphis to face the Showboats on Saturday at 11 AM. The game will be televised on ABC.
