CHEROKEE COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m. Sunday, July 28, has claimed the life of a Chipley, Fla. man, according to Senior Trooper Vu Quang of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
“Paul E. Coker, 49, was fatally injured when the 2009 Suzuki VS800 motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and struck several trees,” Quang said. “Coker was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near the 278 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Piedmont, in Cherokee County.
No further information is available as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
