LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala.–An Athens man died Sunday afternoon after he was involved in a head-on collision near Ardmore, according to ALEA Cpl. Reginal M. King.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., Brandon H. Cooley, 44, was fatally injured when the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup he was driving collided head-on with a 2012 Chrysler 200.
Cooley was reportedly not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chrysler, 26-year-old Courtney G. Aughtman of Madison, was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 53 near the 338 mile marker, approximately four miles southeast of Ardmore in Limestone County.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate.
