BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed at a Birmingham bar Thursday night, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
At around 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at the 604 Bar and Lounge in the Smithfield neighborhood.
When police arrived on the scene, they found an adult female lying unresponsive in the lounge suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the victim to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Diontranet Brown.
“Currently, we do not believe this was a random shooting,” Fitzgerald said. “It is unclear if the victim was the intended target.”
There is currently no one in custody.
