BRIGHTON, Ala.–A Trussville woman was shot and killed during a reported assault last night in Brighton, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The woman has been identified as Kandyce Marie Williams, 28.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Brighton Police Department at 12:26 a.m. Friday to investigate a report of a person shot.
By the time deputies arrived, Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were on the scene and had pronounced her dead.
According to the sheriff’s office, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was driven to the Brighton Police Department for help after being shot at another location, which has not been named.
The case is still under investigation.
