TRUSSVILLE, Ala.–The 3rd Annual Foundations for Hope 5K will make its return to Trussville on Saturday, Oct. 19 in an effort to support communities in East Africa with clean water, medicine, churches, and discipleship.
“The goal of the Foundations for Hope 5K is to advance the Gospel by empowering the local church, investing in individuals, providing critical resources, and equipping Christian leaders,” the organization wrote.
With the support of sponsors, seven villages received clean water last year according to the group, which believes they can do even more this year.
This year’s 5K will start and end at the Gateway with the race kicking off at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers can register individually or as a team in the Jerry Can 5K Relay, where each team of three will run or walk the 5K with a jerry can filled with water.
Participants will receive a free race day t-shirt and finisher medal, and there will be trophies for the overall winners, relay winners, and the stroller division.
The day will also offer music, face painting, an activity area for kids, and race day discounts at local businesses.
$35 registration is now open and prospective participants can use the code FRIEND20 to receive 20% off.
