BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–A Birmingham man was shot and killed after a verbal altercation on Friday, Oct. 11, near East Lake Park, according to BPD Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 20-year-old Paul Devaried Terry, Jr.
On Friday at approximately 12:19 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot near the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North.
When officers arrived on the scene, they were notified that the victim had run to a nearby shed where they later found the victim lying unresponsive.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
The victim has not been identified at this time.
“The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim came to a residence in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North,” Wade said.
“While at the residence, a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect, possibly outside of the residence. During the verbal dispute, the suspect shot the victim. The victim ran from the location to the 300 block of 83rd Street North where he collapsed inside the shed.”
As of Monday morning, there is still no one in custody.
