SPRINGVILLE, Ala.–The man who was charged in last month’s shooting in Springville has been released on bond, according to court documents.
Adam Cornelius was charged with the murder of John Burgin, 51, at an apartment complex along Forman Street on the night of Oct. 27.
According to St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell, Burgin was declared dead at the scene at approximately 9 p.m.
According to the arrest report, Cornelius, 47, was arrested with a handgun and his address was listed as one of the units at the apartment complex.
After he was booked in the Pell City Jail, Cornelius’ defense attorney submitted a motion to set his bond, claiming that he is “not a threat to society nor the community.”
Following the motion, District Judge Brandi Hufford set his bond at $50,000.
As a condition of the bond, Cornelius is required to have no contact with the victim’s family and cannot have a firearm in his possession.
