BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Central Alabama is in for a chill this weekend before getting even colder early next week, according to CBS 42 Chief Meteorologist David Nussbaum.
Friday night: Clear and colder with a freeze for all of Central Alabama. Low temperatures will be in the lower to upper 20s. Protect any plants, have a warm place for pets, and keep heaters away from any objects. The wind chill will be in the lower 20s over Eastern Alabama.
Weekend Outlook: A reinforcing shot of colder air arrives as an upper-level wave moves across the state. Saturday will be mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the lower 50s. Saturday night will be mostly clear and cold with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Sunday will be sunny and chilly with highs in the middle 50s.
Iron Bowl Forecast: It will be a cold game this year. Bundle up for tailgating with temperatures in the 30s. Kickoff temperatures at 2:30 PM Saturday will be in the lower 50s with sunshine. By the fourth quarter, temperatures will fall to the lower 40s.
Next Week’s Outlook: A second shot of colder air arrives early next week as high pressure sits over the Southeast U.S. Monday morning will be very cold with temperatures ranging from the upper teens to middle 20s.
The afternoon will be sunny and cold with highs in the middle 40s. Tuesday will be sunny and chilly, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper teens to middle 20s. The high pressure will move east of Alabama on Wednesday with sunshine and high temperatures in the 50s. An upper-level wave will move over Alabama on Thursday and Friday setting off a few showers. It will be milder with highs in the middle 50s to lower 60s.
