FAYETTE COUNTY, Ala.–A single-vehicle crash Sunday morning left a 2-year-old dead and two adults injured near Glen Allen Sunday morning, according to ALEA Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
The toddler, who was from Jasper, was killed when the 2020 Toyota Tacoma that the child was a passenger in left the roadway and struck a tree.
The toddler was reportedly unrestrained and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, Steven B. Collins, 40, of Jasper, was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.
Another passenger, Wendy J. Bailey, 22, also of Jasper, was also injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital for treatment.
Bailey was also not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The wreck occurred at approximately 10:24 a.m. on Fayette County 73 near Morris Cemetery Road, about two miles south of Glen Allen.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate.
