BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–One man was found dead Tuesday night in Birmingham after police said 49 rounds were fired in a shooting incident, according to BPD Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Ty’Keem Dishad Moore.
“At around 10:10 p.m., officers responded to three ShotSpotter notifications in the 1800 block of Princeton Court Southwest registering approximately 49 rounds,” Wade said.
When officers arrived, they found multiple spent bullet casings on the ground and identified two vehicles and a residence that had been struck by gunfire.
“One hour and a half later, a family member of the victim called 911 emergency services and reported that their loved one had been shot,” Wade said.
That call came at approximately 11:43 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers again responded to the location and found an adult male victim lying unresponsive in the Princeton Court Southwest alleyway.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
Tuesday’s homicide was the 147th of 2024 in Birmingham. The highest number of homicides recorded in one year in the city was 148 in 1933.
